Swim Lessons
This week started swim lessons. Of course, Jackson couldn't participate so Jenna got the pool all to herself. She learned different strokes and by Friday was asking to jump off the diving board with no assistance. She is doing so well for someone who didn't want to put her head underwater last year.

Reading Struggles
For about two months now I have started reading at night to detox from the day. I decided I would read some of the classics. I picked Pride and Prejudice. I have to admit, I am having trouble getting into the book. I don't know if it is the language or that I am brain dead at the end of the day. Every time I try to start it, this clip comes to mind. Just thought that I would share a little of my struggle.

Weathering the Storm
On Wednesday we had some high winds that may or may not have been a tornado. I don't know if it was because I was hiding in Jackson's closet with a beanbag, cell phone and a dog. The kids were at my parents for the week and Jason was still working. I don't do well by myself in these situations but we survived with very little damage. Lots of God moments here. First, the only part of our tree that is standing is the part that would have fallen into our bedroom. Second, we have the biggest backyard in our neighborhood (we know because we pay for it every year in taxes) so when the tree fell, it landed only in our yard. And third, the only major damage was the side fence and was caused by our neighbor's tree. Let's hope this is the major storm of the season and we will not see this weather for a while.

"365 Days a Year"
Jenna had her ballet recital on Saturday morning. The theme this year was "365 Days a Year." This year the recital was split into two different shows so we were finished much quicker than previous years. Jenna did a great job!

End of 1st Grade
The last week of school was a busy one for Jenna. On Tuesday she had her award ceremony. She received a ribbon for the "A" Honor Roll and a ribbon for Citizenship. She was a little bummed about not getting perfect attendance, but I kept trying to remind her that the half day she missed she was at Disney World. It is funny how quickly they forget.

Then on Thursday she read her published story to her class. Jason was able to attend.

Here is her story:
How to Make a Fashion Design
My name is Katie. One day I was wondering, “How do I make a fashion design?” I did not know because I had never tried. I asked my friend Jenny “Can you help me?” “Yes!” said Jenny. Jenny helped me learn how to make a fashion design and I kept designing and designing.
Then I became a fashion designer. With Jenny’s help I kept designing. Polka dots, stripes, paisleys, plain, or anything I can design it.
One day a famous model came and saw my fashion designs. Then she asked me if I wanted my designs to be in her fashion show. Then I also became famous!
Everybody began wearing my fashion designs, and I was happy.
I had to make more and more designs for everybody. I became very tired. I was glad I had my friend Jenny to help me.
In her biography portion of the book she has decided not only is she going to be an ice skater when she grows up but she is also going to be an ice skater for Disney World. Not sure how that will turn out, but we will see.
Then since she had ballet rehearsal Friday afternoon I was able to pick her up the last day of school. Here is Jenna and her fabulous teacher. Can't believe my baby is going to be in second grade!

Only Jackson
So those of you who know my son Jackson know that he is full of life and doesn't really sit still for very long. He is that kid that provides all those single people in Target with something to talk about under their breath. So I received a phone call at work at 11 am on Thursday from daycare. They said that Jackson fell down on the slide and had been crying for over 5 minutes and they were concerned.
Get to the daycare and he is asleep with an ice pack on his elbow. So I call our new pediatrician to get guidance on if I come there or go straight to Urgent Care. Go to the doctor's at 2:30 pm. They need X-Rays. Go to Lewisville to the Imaging facility which also happens to be packed with people. Have X-Rays done. Go back to the pediatrician they converse with the Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. Decide that they will put a temporary soft sling on him and wrap it up with Ace bandages.

So bright and early on my day off I take Jackson to the Orthopedic Surgeon at 8 am in Grapevine. They have to take more X-Rays. By this point, he is asking to go home. They start the cast and the tears start coming, the legs start kicking and the screaming can be heard in Flower Mound. I am laying on top of him and the two nurses are trying to cast him as quickly as possible. So the cast drys. Think we are done, no of course now we have to split the cast so that the swelling can go down. This involves a S-C-A-R-Y saw as the nurse put it. I am thinking - if the cast was bad, what is this going to be like. Well this involved more tears, more screaming and Mom on the verge of tears. By the time they gave him a new sling he was freaking out over the safety pin they used on the sling. He has to come back in a week so that they can seal up the cast. I am thinking Daddy gets that job.

So between all these appointments I asked him what he was doing on the slide. Here is the 4 year version: "I was playing on the slide. I was Spider-Man and my friend Alyssa was Spider-Girl. Then the 'Mean New Girl' slid down and knocked me off." So Jackson's spidy senses are a little off these days. He struggles with the little things and refuses to ask for help. Wait until he learns he can't jump off anything, get on playground equipment or swim for roughly 4 weeks.

Ok, So I Forgot to Blog...
Well I have been a little busy for a little over a month. Work has been crazy and the end of school year stuff is finally over so I am finally getting around to updating the blog. So April consisted of Hannah Montana with some of the girls from church, putting down some new grass in the front yard and last soccer game of the season! Here is a recap in pictures...
Jackson and Jenna also attending one of their friend's birthday party.

May started out with activity after activity. First was the soccer end of the year swim party, then the first attempt of the Frisco Rough Riders game with our Small Group (ultimately after a hour it was called due to rain), then ballet pictures, some more laying of grass on the second half of the front yard, Grandma visiting for a week, full recital mode for ballet, second attempt for the Frisco Rough Riders game (with only a 7th inning shower), reading 5 novels and 2 biographies, seeing Night at the Museum with Grandma and Papa, watching the Longhorns win NCAA record 25 innings of baseball via the internet until 1 am, Jason attending the Colonial golf tournament and a Rangers game and oh yeah - don't forget the Swine Flu that shut down our school district for 3 days.
So I am finally up to June - only a few days behind at this point.
