Well, it seems that I have been tagged by Amanda and Jenny to acknowledge 7 weird things about me. It took me three days to come up with 7 things but I was able to do it when I started to really think about it.
1) I love molasses! I have to have Grandma's molasses on my bacon, my sausage and even sometimes on my spiral ham. I know it is weird but all I have to say is there are multiple members on my Dad's side that do the same thing.
2) I am a West Texas girl at heart. This is a two parter. First, I hate driving cars. My first vehicle was a Ford Bronco II. Ever since I prefer SUV and/or trucks to cars. In college I wanted a Ford Explorer so when we bought our first vehicle it was an Explorer. Now I would like a Ford F-150 King Ranch double cab. Of course, this will be a vehicle that would be after the kids are out of car seats and it will take me that long to convince Jason it is ok for his wife to have a truck.
3) I am a West Texas girl at heart - part 2. I love football. When I was probably younger than Jackson I would go to the high school two-a-days practice with my Dad. My 3rd and 4th birthday cakes were football cakes. I used to sleep as a kid with one of those blow up punching football players. I had two and in some of my baby pictures you can see the duck tape to keep it blown up. I taught my 7th grade cheerleading squad what 1st and Ten was so that they would understand the cheer. I even played flag football for three years in college. I wasn't very good but it was fun. Now I enjoy watching Longhorn football and the Dallas Cowboys (when I don't take a nap on Sundays). I am the one to the right of the center.
4) My happy place is Hallmark. My Mom purchased a First Christmas Hallmark ornament for me which was the second year that Hallmark made Keepsake Ornaments. Almost every year since I have at least one ornament from Hallmark. Jason and I have a series, I have a couple of series that bleed over from my single days and both our kids have series. I have multiple bins in the attic full of ornaments that I could if I had a bigger house could put on multiple trees. I also like giving cards for almost every occasion. When I have a bad work day I go to Hallmark to look around. It makes me happy. Foot note on this - I had the opportunity to participate in a focus group for Hallmark Christmas stuff on Monday. Easiest $75 I ever made!
5) I have a security blanket. Ok, it is really a quilt but it goes everywhere with me. Back in junior high my Granny made me a quilt for my bedroom. I have taken it to mission trips, to college and now with me at my house. When I am sick I prefer the quilt over any other blanket. I don't let my children use it because it is a little weathered. It is just something that I keep just for myself.
6) I am not a touchy feely person. When I was a little girl my Mom use to wake us up by kissing us and love patting our legs. Couldn't stand it - just ask my Mom. I wasn't one of those teenagers hanging onto their boyfriends. What is funny about this is that I cry at a drop of the hat for anything but I don't like to be touched. As things normally happen when you become a mother, I do this to my kids. My son is so much like me personality wise that he doesn't care for affection either.
7) The cleanest, most organized part of my house is the closets. I organize my closets and my kids' closet by season and type of clothing. There are long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts (in my closet it is also divided by polo versus no collar), pants (jeans, suit pants and slacks), skirts (short and long) and dresses. My shoes are in their original shoe box stacked (also organized by season). When my kids were babies their closets use to be organized with those hanger dividers with the size. It used to look like a department store. Now the rest of my house, well don't mess with my pile - I know where everything is - it just may take me multiple site visits to locate which pile.
