10 days and counting

Our anniversary trip is 10 days away and I am starting to bring out the Type A OCD side of my personality. I have this list and am becoming anxious that I am not going get it all done before we leave. Some things are on the list like pay bills ahead of time and some are not on the list like going to the dentist for a chipped tooth. To make it more complicated I am having to rush the tooth repair before the trip. Not only was this not on my budget for the month, I didn't have this in my work schedule either. I was able to mark some things off the list this weekend so I have some sense of relief. I know that it won't matter once I step on that airplane when I am in full vacation mode.

Six Flags

During the school year Jenna received a Six Flag free ticket for reading. This ticket expired at the end of the month so we went to Six Flags on Sunday. Of course it was super hot and at the end of the day we were so tired from the heat.

Our outing starting rough - here is the short version....a parking attendant telling us not to unload where we unloaded, the ticket agent forgetting to give me one of our tickets, standing in the wrong line for strollers despite being in the labeled stroller line, going to Will Call to get the missing ticket, Jenna walking out of the park without getting her hand stamped, having a security guard take her back inside the park, getting in the line again, having our sunscreen taken because it wasn't allowed in the park, getting my hand stamped to check my sunscreen, begging the security guard to walk me through the gate without having to stand in the now longer line after I checked my sunscreen and overall being frustrated.

Once inside the park it was a fun day. The lines weren't very long and we got to ride some rides with the boys while the guys took the girls on bigger rides. We even braved the water rides of which Julie and I received the bulk of the water. Thanks goodness for wearing the right undies!

Ornament Premiere Part 2

At each ornament premiere you sign up for a door prize and depending on the year you get gifts depending on how much you spend. This year I won the door prize on those individuals that spent over a certain dollar amount. I went to pick it up and the sales ladies were so excited. I still had no clue what was in the box because everything was still in the wrapping. Come to find out it was 2004 Members Only Christmas Chess Set. Now, I wouldn't have purchased this because we barely play checkers. While I was searching the net for pictures of the set I realized how much this sucker is worth. So once Jason finds out how much it is worth he will want me to sell it on eBay.

Ornament Premiere

Every July Hallmark premieres that year's ornaments. I love that day and look forward to it every summer. I have had a Hallmark ornament for almost every Christmas since my first Christmas. I go every year to the premiere unless I have to work, which Jason's gets the privilege of picking my ornaments for me. Oh yes, I put my wish list in and the store bags them up for me for pick up. Some years there are ornaments that are cuter in person and I end up purchasing an extra ornament. This year I did that but I rationalized it because we are going to Disney World this fall. Here is the ornament that won me over this year. Isn't it cute? And the mouth moves like a regular nutcracker.

Cousin Weekend

This past weekend we traveled to Houston to visit Jason's family. His brother and the kids were in town en route to Alabama. Started the weekend with a friendly game of water balloons. You should have seen these thirty something year olds out there with their toddler goggles on and water guns. Jason's Mom and I managed to stay somewhat dry. Jackson really just liked dropping the water balloons on the ground for no reason. We ended the day with popsicles.

Future Teacher?

One day when my parents were in town we couldn't find Jackson. We found him in his room with my parents' dog reading to him. Mostly showing him pictures but this could be some early signs of becoming a teacher. We do have ten of them in our family combined so it is possible.
