Kindergarten Awards Day

This morning was the Kindergarten awards day. Jenna received the Silver Quill Award for Excellent Handwriting, Perfect Attendance and the Citizenship Award. She won a Six Flags ticket for reading six books and acknowledgement for her Published Story. All in all it was a good awards ceremony. Afterwards the classes had a picnic and created bubble machines. Here is a picture of Jenna and her teacher as well as her best friend Kate.

Memorial Day Weekend

As many of you know there are some crazy things going on at my work lately. One of the latest is that my office moved from Bedford to Irving over Memorial Day weekend. So when I left work Friday afternoon I took advantage of the three day weekend to get some much needed rest. On Sunday we had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with friends around their pool. The kids had a blast and made it feel like summer really is here.




On Monday we spent most of the day in our PJs having fun around the house. We finally were able to make snow cones with the Snoopy snow cones maker the kids got for Christmas. It reminded me of making snow cones with my parents as a kid with our Snoopy snow cone maker. Thanks Aunt Dee Dee for the great present!

My Little Cowgirl

Jason wanted to take the kids to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History but it is under construction until Fall 2009. So we went to the National Cowgirl Museum instead. Not exactly worth the money and did not really keep Jackson's interest but here is a cute shot of my little cowgirl. If we had land and money for a horse, she so would be a cowgirl.



Anything this shiny needs to be a jungle gym.

Last Days of Soccer

This week was Jenna's last soccer practice and game. She has really enjoyed playing and surprisingly she is actually good for a first time player. Towards the end of practice the parents got to challenge the girls. Jason arrived in enough time to play in his dress pants and shoes and to make it even more challenging he had a three year old on his back.

 

Saturday was Jenna's last game. The coach talked to them about making sure that everyone gets an opportunity to score. Jenna and Mia are probably the most competitive two on the team and you can see them pushing to get the ball. Then there was my son cleaning his trains on the sideline.

My Published Author

Earlier in the school year, Jenna dictated a story to me so she could have it published at her school. She drew pictures and I typed the story and put it on a disk. She worked with a school volunteer to pick out the design of the cover and the page layout. Yesterday she has the first reading of her story. Jason and I both attended but I was selected to help her with the words she didn't know. I sat in the little kid chair and she is in the teacher chair. Afterwards she said that she had stage fright and couldn't remember the words. Congrats Jenna on your first of many stories! Here is her story for everyone to enjoy.

Ice Princess

Sarah is ten years old. She has long blonde hair. She has been ice skating since she was four years old. Sarah has a pet cat named Bluebonnet. Bluebonnet only plays with pretty yarn. Every day when Sarah comes home from practice she plays with her toy dolls and with Bluebonnet. Sarah is skating in her fifth skating competition. She is wearing her favorite colors, pink and purple with white sparkles. Her long hair is up in a loose bun with a gold sparkled tiara. Her skates are shiny white. Her music is medium speed – neither too fast nor too slow. She does not even fall once. It is her best routine yet. Sarah walks away with the gold medal. From then on she was known as the Ice Princess.

Ballet Recital Time

Well we are in full force recital mode for ballet. This starts with picture day (on a Saturday which means I pay for a Saturday that Jenna isn't learning ballet, but let's not focus on that). Then comes the back-to-back days of dress rehearsal in full costume. Normally it isn't a problem but as you can tell from this picture Jenna's costume is covered in silver glitter. I have glitter in my garage, my carpet (bet the Dyson Animal would pick it up) and randomly on my face. Two more weeks and then we have recital and I can't wait to see how Jenna does with two dances this year.

New Look

As you can tell Amanda has been here. You know she is a good friend when we she will design a Longhorn blog for someone. Thanks Amanda for helping me update my blog. Don't worry no "Gig 'Em, Aggies" needed.
