Trick or Treat?

Tonight we went Trick or Treating with the kids. We first started at some of our neighbors houses. One was so startled by our arrival that the kids got Capri Suns from them. For some reason our neighborhood has very little houses with their lights on so we headed to Dean and Julie's house to visit their neighbors. It was actually pretty fun going house to house. The kids' bags were so full of candy that I don't know what we are going to do with all of it.

Here is how the kids looked as we were heading out.

Here they are in mid run.

What you don't see if me behind Jackson with the bag. He wanted his flashlight more than the bag. Half way through the neighborhood he lost his astronaut hat, then his air tubes and then he attempted to disrobe. I guess it is a boy thing.

We ended the day with 25 cent ice cream cones from Sonic and 99 cent Route 44's. What a fun Halloween!

The Rest of the Weekend

On Saturday Jason and our friend Brian went to the Texas - Oklahoma State game in Austin. It was a battle of the oranges. Brian went to Oklahoma State and I was afraid that after attending a game with Jason that they wouldn't be friends anymore. Here is a picture of Brian enjoying the game.

While Jason was at the game I spent the day doing things around the house. Later that afternoon Jason's parents came up to vote. They had registered in Houston but some clerical error happened so they took advantage of early voting.

On Sunday after church we went to the American Girl store with Grandma and PaPa. Jenna asked for Mia for Christmas but she wanted to spend her Disney World money to purchase a dress for her doll. She used her own money and then she mentioned she wanted her birthday party there. I know that it isn't cheap so we will have to see what the world holds for all of us in March.

Halloween a Week Early

Our church small group had our first annual Halloween Costume party. It was an opportunity to wear that costume more than once. Even some of the adults dressed up. We painted pumpkins, played pin the nose on the Jack-O-Lantern, bobbed for apples and balloon animals. Here are some pictures of the evening. Jenna is Gabriella from High School Musical 2 and Jackson is an astronaut.

Here are group shots of the kids and the adults. At this point everyone asked how we take family pictures as my son is on the floor doing his own thing.

Some of the moms of older boys promised it would get better at 4 years old.

Night Game

There's nothing like a night game in Austin. Yes, we were there and it was a great game. Jason smoozed with the Orange Bowl representatives, we watch the sidelines flock to Derek Jeter and completely pass over Roger Clemens. There were several other celebrities there as there is for a big game. It was fun and really captured the excitement of being #1. At least for another week!

College Game Day

Saturday morning ESPN College Game Day was in Austin before the Texas - Missouri game. All four of us trekked out to the South Mall to participate. We picked up some Chick-fil-A goodies and Jenna even got to paint a sign. All in all we had a good time.

This is one of my favorite signs at GameDay - although the one next one to it says "We're here cuz GameDay couldn't find Waco." Just a shout out to all my Baylor friends.

Field Day

Friday was Field Day at Jenna's school. Her team was the Jamaica team. They only won the Tug of War but she had a great time!

Photo Tag

I didn't officially get tagged for this photo tag but thought it would be interesting to see what pops up. I went to the sixth folder in my picture folders, six folder (because I have everything organized) and the sixth photo. Here is a picture of Jason and Jackson right after Jackson's 2nd birthday party. It was a cowboy / cowgirl theme. This is familiar sight around our house - like Father, like Son.

Jenna's First Election

Today Jenna had the opportunity of voting in her first mock Presidential Election at school. Since the primaries Jason has talked to Jenna about the election process and how history is taking place this year with the different candidates. He actually did a good job of explaining it at a first grader level without telling her one party is better than another. I asked her yesterday who she was going to vote for and all she said was Sarah Palin. She couldn't remember anyone else's name.

I couldn't help but think back to my first mock Presidential Election in 1980. I was in Kindergarten and I voted for Jimmy Carter. According to my parents I could tell you Jimmy Carter was the President at anytime if asked.

Today when I asked who won the election she said that McCain beat Obama (although she struggle to say his name right) by 5 votes. Who knows, maybe the first graders of the world can predict better than the polls? Jason would say it is the Halloween costume predictor?

Pumpkin Patch - Take 2

Today our Small Group met at the Pumpkin Patch for fellowship. Today the kids got to play, jump on the bouncehouse, ride the train and we all went on a hay ride. We had a really good time and were able to get out of there before the patch got too busy.

"I'm the king of the world!"

Hook 'em Horns

This a good weekend. Normally, TX-OU weekend is not always pleasant. I am personally happy because for weeks I have been upset that none of the media was talking about Texas. Now, I don't know if I want them talking about us. We will see....

Disney World Update

For all of those that were worried that we wouldn't get our Character Meals or our dining plans ironed out before we went to Disney World Thanksgiving week - we finally did. Normally we are the first to call or register. For example, we got our flights to Disney the first day we could purchase them with our AAdvantage Miles. For whatever reason the start time for making reservations happened while we were in Europe and we just couldn't get organized. While we didn't get all our desired restaurants or character meals, we did get some pretty decent reservations. The kids and us adults will enjoy it.

Garage Sale!

We had a garage sale this morning. Here is what I learned - Jenna is a pack rat like her Mama and Jackson is a born salesman. Jackson would often announce arrival of "guests" and then try to see if they wanted the giant stuffed jaguar or the Chicken Dance Elmo. Jenna kept trying to pull things out of bins or questioning why this is out here. All in all we made a little bit of profit, my attic is several bins free and the kids got some spending money for Disney World!
