Birthday Party Help

 

OK, I need some help from those out there in the blog world. My daughter's and son's birthday are within 4 days of each other. Jenna wants Barbie Island Princess and Jackson wants Thomas. We are still hoping for a small party because we really aren't ready for an all school party. The problem is that we want to have a combined party again this year but we don't really want to have it at our house. Any suggestions of a good place for 2/3 year olds and 5/6 year olds in March?

Spider-Man Mega Blocks

Yesterday Jackson found some of his mega blocks that he got for his birthday last March from his Uncle James and Aunt Wendy. It has several superheros and a fire station and fire truck. The kids had already had dinner and Jason and I were trying to enjoy our spicy tortilla soup when Jackson came in with his blocks. Jason made fun of me because I had to do it just like the picture. As you could see Jackson had fun.

Rock Monster

Although report cards are not out yet, we are able to look online Jenna's report card. For the third six weeks reward she chose to go see the Veggie Tales movie. It was the first time that we have taken Jackson to a movie since he was small. He did pretty good and he even danced to Rock Monster. It was a cute movie and I would recommend it to anyone with kids who are familiar with Veggie Tales.

Je m'appelle Jennifer....

OK, you wouldn't think that I was a girly girl. I don't like pantyhose, dresses or makeup. However, there are times that I pull out the girl card. Jason and I are going to England and France for our 10th Anniversary. Something that we were going to do before kids when Jason had flight benefits but there was a little thing called graduate school in the way. Anyway, because we are both planners (just look at our Disney count down on the right) we have been DVRing the Travel channel for things to do so that we can plan out our vacation. So we have England down on the have-to-sees and now it is on to France. I do like to pull out the girl card whenever we are in new places. That is because Jason "always" knows where he is going. Even when we ended up in New Jersey somehow he still knew where he was going. The problem with pulling the girl card on part of the trip is that I took French in high school. Granted I had my cheerleading sponsor as a teacher but none the less I actually remember pieces of it. Jason keeps telling me that I am going to have to communicate when we are in France - not the girl card. What he doesn't realize is when I went to Russia all I learned was how to read Women's Toilet and how to say it besides the basic yes and no. I am thinking the Texas accent might be a giveaway that we are tourists. What do you think?

Jason did say that he would communicate whenever we are in Mexico. After many business trips to border Mexico I don't know exactly when he thinks we will be heading to Mexico. So all those out there that read this blog, any tips on getting by with minimal French? Also, any have-to-see for England or France are welcomed too.

Our biggest pain - rubber style

Jackson's Grandma got him some cute rain boots that went with his fireman rain coat for his birthday in March. He loves these boots and has worn them several places. Now he has outgrown them and has managed to convince his Aunt Dee Dee that he wears them all the time. After several arguements we were able to prevent him from wearing them to school if we would pay him some new ones. I knew that Target had them on sale so it was a win win situation for me. After telling him that little boys don't wear the red cherry boots he settled on camo ones. He wouldn't take them off his feet in the basket so the checker had to pull the scanner and reach over the basket to scan the boots. Then he had to wear them out. Keep in mind that they were still tied together. Final straw was he HAD to wear them to church yesterday. Well we were late and so he is running through the halls with these loud rain boots. Only my son.

Our kids had a lock in at their school where they had pizza, watched movies and played games. We went to pick them up at 11 pm because, well we are old and we were tired. We figured they would be asleep. Wrong! They were wide awake and so we actually celebrated at 11:30 pm. Jenna was fast asleep by midnight but Jackson got to see the ball drop.

January 1, 1998 - "Yes!"

10 years ago today Jason and I got engaged. We were serving as adult sponsors for a youth ski trip to Aspen, Colorado with my church back home. We spent New Year's Eve at a lock in that the convention was having that included bounce house gladiator and various other fun stuff after having worship. The next day we spent the day skiing Aspen. It was so much fun. My sister and her future husband Brad and I took Jason down his first black diamond run and he was the first to fall. This made him mad so he decided that he would speed down the mountain. Now the funny thing was that after that fall he didn't fall again. Brad, Dee Ann and I all fell at least once. After we made it down the mountain he decided that we would rest at one of the lodges. We were sitting on a picnic bench and I was taking pictures and as I was taking a picture of the mountain (not sure why as I think back) I noticed that Jason was down on one knee. I hadn't heard a word of his speech but I did say yes.
