Egg Drop Soup

Today was the Kindergarten's egg drop. Each kid was allowed a 7 x 7 x 7 package to protect their egg during a drop off the roof. Jason was confident that he could "help" Jenna package her egg so it wouldn't break during the drop. Jason won this challenge in elementary school and was allowed to test his egg package off the tower at Six Flags. So we found a Hallmark box and put a whole package of cotton balls around her egg. Ta Da - her egg didn't break. I credit the Hallmark box. Jenna had a sense of accomplishment that she was one of the few that didn't break. What I think is so funny is that she kept the egg in the baggie outside of the box in her backpack going to daycare and going to home and it didn't break until Jason took it out of the refrigerator after this picture.

Let the Soccer Begin

Jenna started soccer yesterday. We put her in Upward soccer rather than the local league just because we are familiar with Upward and thought for fundamentals it would be the better program. She had a good time but I realized I am not the soccer mom type. I sat there thinking of all the things that I could be doing while she was running around. Hopefully she will have fun during the games. I will keep everyone posted.

My Jenna

I guess with a little time away you notice a couple of different things about your children. First, the High School Musical phase has now entered our household. Yesterday Jenna asked me to log into the website so that she can play and listen to the music. She started singing word for word the songs. Whole new appreciate for you Jennifer and Julie (and Dean). Then today she came in to tell me that she could pick up Jackson. I told her she isn't allowed to pick up Jackson. She said she didn't she just knows because he weighs younger than her. Wish I could weigh younger. She is such a good kid that sometimes it pays to have a mini-break to appreciate her on a whole different level. Love ya, Jenna!

Happy Easter

After church we had Easter lunch with the cousins and all their kids. Here are the first cousins. If you saw the pictures of the four of us as kids you would know that it isn't an Easter picture without one of us messing with our tights. It seems it is a family trait that we passed onto our kids.



Since it rained about four inches Saturday night we were limited to a section of the backyard that didn't have any puddles. Here all seven of the second cousins had the egg hunt.

A Pretty Day with Granddaddy

Saturday was a beautiful day and it allowed the kids to ride their bikes. I grew up on a dead end street with minimal traffic. Jenna enjoyed being able to ride her bike all over the place without fear of a car popping up on you. As a special treat Granddaddy gave the kids a ride in his mini tractor. Maybe when they are a little older they can ride on the farm tractor like we did as kids.

Easter Egg # 2

We traveled to San Angelo to my parents for Easter. One of the churches has a huge community Easter Egg hunt. Only in an Air Force town would have eggs dropped from a helicopter before the egg hunt started. We were going to do this egg hunt last year but it was snowing so they rescheduled for a time when we weren't going to be in town. The kids had a good time and they shared the eggs with others.

My Only Child - at least this week

Jenna is spending the week with her grandparents in San Angelo so we are having a little alone time with Jackson. Saturday we spent the later part of the day outside riding his Spider-Man motorcycle. Well, mostly I pushed but he did get the peddling part somewhat down. We have played board games, watch videos, played outside and he even allowed for me to take him to get a haircut. He did one strange thing this time, it decided that it bothered him to have the cut hair on the drape. He kept reaching to put it on the floor. Looks like we could have another perfectionist on our hands which is bizarre because he has a code name for everything.

Happy Birthday Jackson Ray!

 

 

Today was Jackson's 3rd birthday. His school was celebrating cowboy day. What a great way to celebrate your birthday. Jackson's birth was much more smooth due to the fact that it was a planned C-section. I was up and about the next morning with very little pain. I guess not going through 12 hours of some sort of labor will do that to a person. Happy birthday buddy, we are so lucky to have such a vibrant young man in our lives. We love you!

Easter Egg Hunt

Today was our annual small group Easter egg hunt. We read the Easter story, found some eggs, had some sack races and ate birthday cake.

Potty Training Update

Today was the first "real life" day with the potty training. He did pretty good but he did have some accidents because of us being out and about. He did well at holding it until we finished our naps. When I woke up he was in his window seat with his Buddy Bear watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

One Good Day

Today was the first Saturday in a while that we didn't have anything other than ballet scheduled. We took time out to do all those things that you put off like install a new light fixture and Spring cleaning. We thought this would be a good day to solely devote to potty training. Jackson is able but most of the time he is stubborn. Today was a good day. Every 30 minutes we would go to the bathroom. There were some moments that we were frustrated but no accidents all day. Now, tomorrow we have things scheduled so pray for us to continue working with him even when it is difficult for us.

After all the playing in the snow and the kids were asleep Jason asked me if I remembered what I was doing six years ago. Well at 9 pm on March 6, 2002 I was fighting with the nurse at the maternity ward that I was in labor. It was a scary situation for those around me but I was completely drugged up (yep, I am the wimp that used the drugs) but our beautiful daughter arrived at 5:55 am on March 7, 2002 after an emergency C-section. She was two weeks early but as with everything in her life she does things on her own time. Happy Birthday sweetheart, our lives have been blessed since you entered the world six year ago today!

Snow For Your Birthday

All winter long Jenna has been asking it if was going to snow. Yesterday Jason and I were able to get out of work early and play in the snow with the kids. Jackson really didn't like the snow much this time. I guess it was just too cold so he slept in the house while the three of us made our creations. We made a snow Jenna and a snow Jackson in the front yard. Helped that we had to shovel the incline that is our driveway to get the cars in the garage. Jenna even enjoyed the snow angels. Today is Jenna's birthday so she was so excited that the snow lasted long enough for it to be on her special day.

Snow in March?

Monday night we received a special surprise, snow. Jenna was already asleep when the snow started accumulating so we of course woke her up. The kids played in the backyard for almost an hour. Jackson had to wear his sunglasses outside and his boots. He had more fun throwing snowballs at Mommy and splashing in the slush than anything. Jenna refused to come in. She wanted to make a whole family of snowmen. Even Barney got into the snow fun!

Happy Birthday Reese!

Saturday was Reese's 2nd birthday. She celebrated at her house with a Dora the Explorer party. Happy birthday Reese, we love you!

Bounce World

We had Jenna and Jackson's birthday a little earlier this year due to Easter and Spring Break both being in March. We celebrated at Bounce World an indoor bounce house. The kids had fun and even some of the adults were tempted to jump.

 

 

The kids loved all their presents. Big presents from the Grandparents included sleeping bags (which the kids used at the Hilton with Grandma and Papa), Spider-Man "motorcycle" (Jackson's words) and a Hannah Montana guitar.
