Everyone Loves a Parade

We went to the Flower Mound High School Homecoming parade this evening. We were at an intersection corner so the police car was parked on the grass. Here are the kids next to it. Both boys tried to get into the car. At least it was the driver's side and not the back seat. Later it was interesting to watch these high school kids try to "throw" candy at the cop car. Let's just say it worked to my benefit.

Don't mind the mix match outfit on Jackson. He had an accident at school right before I picked him up. Only when we have to go somewhere does this happen.

Jackson was excited to see the tubas. I think he watches a little too much Little Einstens in the mornings.

Not so keen on the drums.

Jenna liked seeing her school's float

and the candy.

My 100th Post

This is my 100th post - which is a huge accomplishment since I only blog a couple of times a week. This morning my son used a phrase that is my biggest pet peeve at work. I asked him to feed the dog and he said "it's not my job." Of course, this was followed by "it's my sister's job." So this made me consider all the things that I do in a day both at work and at home that isn't in my job description. Who would have thought that a 3 1/2 year boy could cause this deep of thought at such an early hour.

Hurricane Ike

Well everyone survived Hurricane Ike's path over the night. Jason's parents came up yesterday and stayed the night with us but haven't heard how bad the damage to their house is yet. The eye of the storm was over their house this morning around 6 am. Jason's sister and family are in a different part of Houston which was on the clean side of the hurricane so they had high winds and water. They are OK and didn't receive any significant damage. Hope everyone else's friends and family in the path of Ike had the same blessings.

And no rain in Austin.

Happy Birthday Granddaddy!

Saturday was my Daddy's birthday so the kids and I took a road trip. Jenna left sick early from school and proceeded to throw up in the school parking lot on the way out. So our trip wasn't as fun filled as it could have been but it was still nice to get home for a weekend. My Mom and I (with Jackson) managed to walk through a couple of stores downtown that I just enjoy window shopping.

My Dad had the tractor from the farm at the house doing some work so the kids took turns on the big tractor with Granddaddy.

Jenna officially drove (without peddles) herself which I have heard is the best way to learn how to drive. If you notice Granddaddy isn't holding the wheel.

Whenever we weren't watching Jackson was on that thing playing and amazingly he knew all the steps to turn it on. He couldn't actually turn it on so it was pretty safe letting him play on it.

The kids and I baked Granddaddy a cake.

Then we ended the day with a late night of UT football.
Happy Birthday Granddaddy!

That Guy

Yesterday on the way home from daycare I asked the kids what they wanted to be for Halloween. Jenna wants to be Gabriella from High School Musical 2. I asked Jackson what he wanted to be and he answered that guy in High School Musical with the crazy hair. I asked if he wanted to be Spider-Man or Superman. "No, that guy from from High School Musical 2 with the crazy hair." So I guess now I have to figure out how a 3 year old is going to dress up like Corbin Bleu.

End of Summer

This weekend we celebrated Grandpa's birthday with a visit to Houston. We (really me) enjoyed just not doing anything and swimming in the pool. Jenna and Jackson enjoyed playing with their cousins Quinn and Chloe. Jason and his Dad were at the Texas - Florida Atlantic football game. That's right it is the beginning of Fall and the end of Summer.

And what is a party without cupcakes?
