Halloween 2010

This year I was alone during Halloween while Jason dressed up as a Ranger fan at the World Series. Jenna was an 80's girl with full on crimped hair in a scrunchy. While she was getting ready there were a lot of questions of why and all I had was because it was the fad back then.

Jackson was Wolverine complete with claws. We thought that we would have him kick a soccer ball as an inside joke but decided against it.

We started well before dark but surprisingly it takes forever to walk the neighborhood. We had a blast though! Happy Halloween everyone!

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

Last Friday we went to the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown at Bass Pro. The store had masks to color, free pictures with the Peanuts Gang and trick-or-treating around the store. Which is more challenging than it sounds. We then treated ourselves to dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. It didn't hurt that both the kids were free.

Last Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday I met my sister and her girls for one last trip to the Pumpkin Patch. I had hopes that with the promise of rewards that my kiddos would smile for some pictures. Well, trying to get four of them to all look at the camera and smile at the same time is somewhat challenging. I am sure that my sister has better pictures because her camera had super fast sport speed.

I saw these cute felt masks in the dollar section of Target and thought the kids would like them....

Fall Weekend

This morning we were able to head to The Pumpkin Patch with Grandma and Papa. While it was dusty and crowded, the kids had a good time.

The Pumpkin Patch

One of my favorite family traditions is visiting The Pumpkin Patch. We have done it every year since Jenna was born. We always try to go the first Friday the Patch is open. It is normally a wonderful day, it isn't very crowded and we get the first selection of the pumpkins. This year it happen to be opening day. It was fun watching the tractors unload and lay out the pumpkins.

Every year we take this photo and I guess it hit me how grown up Jenna is really becoming. My little girl is starting to disappear and a beautiful young lady is appearing.

Jackson is really starting to have a little growth spurt. It is always harder to tell with him because of his body build.

They humored me and allowed multiple pictures some even without the standard camera smile.

Some years I don't care what pumpkin we get but today I felt like traditional round. So we hunted for round with no ickies on the side. We finally found it!

Then we headed for the perfect little pumpkin before we headed to the Fall Festival at the kids' daycare.

One last hay climb before we head out!

I love Fall and can't wait for the Fall weather to arrive! Happy October everyone!

Halloween 2009

We were lucky to go to Dean and Julie's neighborhood to trick-or-treat in again this year. Their neighborhood has many more participating houses than our neighborhood does and the kids have a great time together.

Jackson was the Red Power Ranger and Jenna was a girl from the 50's. I made her skirt and it is a little long - but I did that so I wouldn't have to make another anytime soon. It was quite the ordeal. A broken sewing machine needle and having to ask Jason for help with the stupid elastic. I swear I really do know how to sew - it has just been a couple of years. Oh and Jason would want everyone to know that he ironed on the poodle.

This isn't our costumes, but this is how we dressed for our small group Halloween party. We are dueling quarterbacks. Only our Longhorn fans will get it but I am Major Applewhite and Jason is Chris Simms.

Pumpkin Patch with G Mommy

Sunday we headed to the Pumpkin Patch again this time with G Mommy. Our nieces Rylee and Reese were able to come too. Good thing I had my sister's super speedy camera because with four kids, you need it to capture them somewhat smiling at the same time!

Just the cousins!

This one is my favorite! Jenna posing and Reese sticking her tongue out at Aunt Jen.

There were some dads there that helped all the kids on the merry-go-round and you can see that Rylee and Jenna loved it!

This is one of my favorite things to do every year and I was glad we got a semi-dry day to enjoy the patch!

Halloween Party

Friday night was our annual Small Group Halloween Party. It was a great time for fellowship and family fun! Jenna was a girl from the 50's and Jackson was a red Power Ranger.

Since we have been back...

This is my attempt to get current on my blogging (or at least in the month of October).

We had soccer games, soccer pictures, Mary Poppins, and the Pumpkin Patch.

Jenna is having a successful soccer season despite the many reschedules due to rain. Jackson on the other hand has a good game, then the next game decided it was cool to be Wolverine on the field. That wouldn't be so bad if he didn't show his blades to the opposing players.

Jenna and I went to see the Broadway traveling show of Mary Poppins - loved it! Grandma, Jenna is ready for the real Broadway!

Finally, no rain so we could visit the two Pumpkin Patches in Flower Mound.

Trick or Treat?

Tonight we went Trick or Treating with the kids. We first started at some of our neighbors houses. One was so startled by our arrival that the kids got Capri Suns from them. For some reason our neighborhood has very little houses with their lights on so we headed to Dean and Julie's house to visit their neighbors. It was actually pretty fun going house to house. The kids' bags were so full of candy that I don't know what we are going to do with all of it.

Here is how the kids looked as we were heading out.

Here they are in mid run.

What you don't see if me behind Jackson with the bag. He wanted his flashlight more than the bag. Half way through the neighborhood he lost his astronaut hat, then his air tubes and then he attempted to disrobe. I guess it is a boy thing.

We ended the day with 25 cent ice cream cones from Sonic and 99 cent Route 44's. What a fun Halloween!

Halloween a Week Early

Our church small group had our first annual Halloween Costume party. It was an opportunity to wear that costume more than once. Even some of the adults dressed up. We painted pumpkins, played pin the nose on the Jack-O-Lantern, bobbed for apples and balloon animals. Here are some pictures of the evening. Jenna is Gabriella from High School Musical 2 and Jackson is an astronaut.

Here are group shots of the kids and the adults. At this point everyone asked how we take family pictures as my son is on the floor doing his own thing.

Some of the moms of older boys promised it would get better at 4 years old.
