Annual Mother - Daughter Game

November 20th was our annual Mother - Daughter Texas game. It was an afternoon game so we didn't have to get up quite so early to drive down. It was a non-conference game that Texas actually won so it was a good one for Jenna to attend.



Jenna still liked watching the band.



Or maybe getting on the Jumbotron was her favorite this year.



Since it was an afternoon game Jenna got to see the tower turn orange at the end of "Eyes of Texas."



Great day with Jenna! She started asking football questions and tried to understand the game. Wonderful memories that I remember sharing with my Dad as a kid.

Big 12 Game

Dean and Jason headed to the Big 12 game on Saturday to watch the Longhorns play Nebraska. Of course they were in the cheap seats but they had a good time. Since they are guys they didn't have pictures with them in it so these will have to do.

The Longhorns won and are headed to the National Championship. It was an exciting game and for once I would appreciate it if they won in a landslide rather than the last second field goal.

Thanksgiving Week

Thanksgiving Week started a little early. We traveled to Houston on Friday, November 20th to have early Thanksgiving with Jason's family. Along the way we were able to pick up some Christmas presents en route to the Texas game. It was the finally home game of the season. It was Senior Day for Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley.


It was a great night game. It was a little cold but the rain held off. The win made Colt the quarterback with the most wins.

At the end of the game all the Seniors take one last stroll around the stadium. Colt fired Old Smokey, played Big Bertha and all the Seniors created a gigantic dog pile in the middle of the field.

All the other Seniors went back into the locker room but Colt did make it over to our side of the stadium. This is the best picture I could get because I didn't want to prevent the kids from being able to give him high fives.

By the time we got back to our car, this was the sight from our parking garage.

On Sunday we spent a day with the kids and catching up on everything going on with Jason's family. Here is a picture of the six kids. As you can tell it can be difficult getting them all to look at the camera at the same time.


My parents came into town on Monday to spend Thanksgiving with my sister and me. On Tuesday my parents and I took the four grandkids to visit Santa at Bass Pro. Jackson really didn't want anything to do with Santa. This picture took two tries and this will probably follow him for the rest of his life.



After visiting Santa I joined some of the girls to watch "New Moon". It was nice to just enjoying a night out.

We spent the day at my sister's new house. It was fun and we even got a little shopping in during the Cowboys game.

Well we are officially in the Christmas season now. So I will leave you with a few pictures of my fall.

Jenna's Longhorn Game

On November 7th Jenna and I went to the Longhorn football game. It wasn't her first Longhorn game, but it was the first one that she sat the entire way through.

It was a mid-morning game so we were able to make a day of the trip. We arrived in plenty of time before the game, but we had the pleasure of walking from the Co-op to the stadium alongside The Hellraisers. Multiple times I told Jenna to cover her ears.


Since it was right after the Fort Hood shooting and right before Veteran's Day, we had the flyover at the end of the National Anthem.

It was also Alumni Band Day so she had fun watching the band make the different formations.

She thought it was interesting that the TV guy was right in front of us whenever the football was at our goal line.


It was a good game, but a little hotter than we expected. We were wearing jeans when we could of worn shorts.



Not that Jenna would remember, but she did see history at the game. Jordan Shipley set a school record.

Ok, So I Forgot to Blog...

Well I have been a little busy for a little over a month. Work has been crazy and the end of school year stuff is finally over so I am finally getting around to updating the blog. So April consisted of Hannah Montana with some of the girls from church, putting down some new grass in the front yard and last soccer game of the season! Here is a recap in pictures...

May started out with activity after activity. First was the soccer end of the year swim party, then the first attempt of the Frisco Rough Riders game with our Small Group (ultimately after a hour it was called due to rain), then ballet pictures, some more laying of grass on the second half of the front yard, Grandma visiting for a week, full recital mode for ballet, second attempt for the Frisco Rough Riders game (with only a 7th inning shower), reading 5 novels and 2 biographies, seeing Night at the Museum with Grandma and Papa, watching the Longhorns win NCAA record 25 innings of baseball via the internet until 1 am, Jason attending the Colonial golf tournament and a Rangers game and oh yeah - don't forget the Swine Flu that shut down our school district for 3 days.

 

So I am finally up to June - only a few days behind at this point.

A Morning in Austin

Jason and I had the opportunity to sit with our friend Steve at the Texas-Baylor football game. After being on the west side (see the arrow of our seats - the lone white in the sea of orange) of the stadium for 10 years it was nice to be on the east side again. Steve's family seats were nice and it was a beautiful fall day. Here is a few of our seats from the east side. Thanks Steve, we had a great time!

The Rest of the Weekend

On Saturday Jason and our friend Brian went to the Texas - Oklahoma State game in Austin. It was a battle of the oranges. Brian went to Oklahoma State and I was afraid that after attending a game with Jason that they wouldn't be friends anymore. Here is a picture of Brian enjoying the game.



While Jason was at the game I spent the day doing things around the house. Later that afternoon Jason's parents came up to vote. They had registered in Houston but some clerical error happened so they took advantage of early voting.

On Sunday after church we went to the American Girl store with Grandma and PaPa. Jenna asked for Mia for Christmas but she wanted to spend her Disney World money to purchase a dress for her doll. She used her own money and then she mentioned she wanted her birthday party there. I know that it isn't cheap so we will have to see what the world holds for all of us in March.

Night Game

There's nothing like a night game in Austin. Yes, we were there and it was a great game. Jason smoozed with the Orange Bowl representatives, we watch the sidelines flock to Derek Jeter and completely pass over Roger Clemens. There were several other celebrities there as there is for a big game. It was fun and really captured the excitement of being #1. At least for another week!

College Game Day

Saturday morning ESPN College Game Day was in Austin before the Texas - Missouri game. All four of us trekked out to the South Mall to participate. We picked up some Chick-fil-A goodies and Jenna even got to paint a sign. All in all we had a good time.





This is one of my favorite signs at GameDay - although the one next one to it says "We're here cuz GameDay couldn't find Waco." Just a shout out to all my Baylor friends.

Hook 'em Horns

This a good weekend. Normally, TX-OU weekend is not always pleasant. I am personally happy because for weeks I have been upset that none of the media was talking about Texas. Now, I don't know if I want them talking about us. We will see....

Texas Tim

Our friend Tim is also known as "Texas Tim" during the football season because of the face paint and his famous Longhorn 3D hat. Texas Tim and Longhorn Laura have two boys, Timothy and Andrew. Timothy is 4 years old and has a rare form of muscular dystrophy called Duchenne's. For those not familiar with this disease Duchenne's causes muscular deterioration and typically by age 6 or 7 they can't walk and the disease is always fatal.

Texas Tim is running in the Austin marathon to raise money to help find a cure this Sunday to raise $15,000 for research. I have attached a link if you feel God wants you to donate. Pray for Tim as he runs this marathon in the downtown/campus area of Austin. Tim and Laura are strong Christians that have praised God all along the way of this path that God has given them. Hook 'Em Tim!

Sorry it has been so long since I have updated the blog. We had some technical difficulties. I still have more to post from Christmas but I am multi-tasking watching the Longhorns in the Holiday Bowl. Will update more tomorrow.

I can't be that old...

Well, I think that I have hit that mark where I completely feel old. On December 7, 1997 I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. It was a weekend of graduation for my friends and myself. On Saturday most of my BSM friends graduated in the beautiful Austin sun. We had a fun day at the alumni center with Bevo. Check out how young we look.




Of course my graduation was on Sunday morning (check out the 10 am) and it was raining (making my hair a little frizzy). The only bonus was that it was my Grandmother's 92nd birthday and my sister's 20th birthday (yep, you do the math).







My best friend since Kindergarten who also shares a birthday with me was able to come in from Odessa. From left to right - Jeff, my dad, Kenny, my mom, Jason, me, my grandmother, my sister, Brad (my future brother-in-law), Paul (Trixie's fiancee, now husband) and Trixie (my best friend).
